Weingut Toni Jost – Great heritage and absolute top class from the Mittelrhein
In the heart of the Middle Rhine, in the historic wine town Bacharach, is located one of Germany's most impressive wineries: Toni Jost Winery. Today, the estate is run by Cecilia Jost, which continues the family heritage with exceptional precision, vision, and ambition.
A historic winery with a modern vision
Weingut Toni Jost has a long history deeply rooted in the steep slate slopes along the Rhine. Cecilia Jost represents the newest generation, but combines tradition with a supremely refined, contemporary wine style. Under her leadership, the estate undoubtedly belongs to the absolute elite of German Riesling producers.
The focus is entirely on terroir expression, low yields and uncompromising quality in the vineyard and cellar. The wines are precise, intense, mineral, and at the same time elegant – Rieslings that impress not only with power, but primarily with finesse and depth.
The Tap – a world-class monopoly
The absolute crown jewel of the domain is undoubtedly the Riesling Grand Cru “Im Hahn”. This wine comes from the legendary Vineyard In the Hahn, a Premier Cru and a rare example of a 100% monopole vineyard: wholly owned by Weingut Toni Jost.
The vineyard is extremely steep, at only about 100 meters from the Rhine, creating a unique microclimate. The proximity of the river has a moderating effect, while the slope is sheltered from cold winds. The subsoil consists of Devon slate, a soil type known for its ability to retain heat and produce wines with a pronounced mineral tension.
Here grows almost exclusively Riesling, perfectly adapted to this terroir and capable of producing wines of exceptional complexity and longevity.
